Carlos Bonell (guitar)

Three Centuries, Three Continents

The SHMS 2016-17 season will kick off to a great start with a recital by the renowned guitarist Carlos Bonell playing music by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Fernando Sor, Francisco Tárrega, Armand Coeck, Phillip Houghton, Federico Torroba and Agustín Barrios.  Carlos has 20 CDs and DVDs to his name, is a professor of guitar at the Royal College of Music and is currently helping Sir Paul McCartney in preparing a concerto he is composing for guitar and orchestra!  The concert will take place at our alternative venue: the Old Church, N16.  Please do spread the word amongst any guitar-playing friends.

 Next date for your diary

The next concert will be on Friday 25th November, at 7.45pm, again at the Old Church, Stoke Newington. The Consone Quartet with Vlad Weverbergh (clarinet) will play a delightful programme including the wonderful Mozart Clarinet Quintet K. 581, which has never been played in our series before, together with Mozart's Adagio and Fugue K. 546 and Schubert's Quartet D. 94. This outstanding young quartet are being supported by our artists-in-residence the Fitzwilliam String Quartet.
